4 Habits to a Calmer, More Confident and Aligned You

Finding that work/life/business/family/you time balance is a constant challenge in this busy world we live in.
I know as a mother, wife and business owner the balance can seem unachievable a lot of time. I constantly feel as if something is missing out, either my child or my business or most commonly me! I forget to take a break, re-align and just be in the here and now. So often I find myself thinking of the future, what I can create, what I want to create and then the disappointment if I don't achieve it in the timeframe I have set for myself.
My story is not unique, in fact most of us women experience this. Constant mum guilt, the feeling we 'need to do more', 'be more', show up more in life and in the world. However how can we possibly do this if we aren't filling our own cups up first?
This week I experienced a little bit of an awakening myself. If you know me personally you know how much of a spiritual being I am. However not until last weekend did I realise just how much I had lost contact with myself, my true purpose and faith within the universe.
Last Sunday I attended a Christmas Party held by one of the #lovebeautygang girls. It was a lot of fun with the usual Christmas party food and drinks, lots of mingling with friends, however this party put a spin on usual cliché with card readings, sharkra reading/aligning, meditation, talking about oils, the universe and all round amazingness!
This event WAS Christmas to me! I got connected with myself again, my mission and re-believing that the universe has my back!
The weekend allowed me to surrender. Give up the control and know that the universe only has the very best intentions and love for us. It is up to us to listen and receive signs, move through the motions but only when following our intuition.
All of this above I know, have learnt and practised before however it wasn't until Sunday that I thought WOW, I really have fallen back into bad habits of listening to my head instead of my heart.
After feeling that aligned on Sunday there was NO WAY I was falling back into bad habits again. I felt so amazing within myself and had this sense of 'peace' I did not want to loose.
So this week I have chosen to practice a number of things to stay in this state of calm, and guess what, I have! Letting go, surrendering and allowing greatness to happen really does work, I have had so many opportunities and doors open this week it has been incredible to sit back and watch.
I wanted to share my 4 habits I have been implementing this week to keep me in a state of calm and truly connected. Even if you aren't a hugely spiritual person and you arn't sure about the whole 'universe' thing, these are still great habits to give a go and see if they make any difference within yourself or life. I would love to hear from you!
So here they are: 4 Habits to a Calmer, More Confident and Aligned You
Habit 1:
Meditation! This is not just a hot topic. So many people are speaking about meditation at the moment because there has never been a more vital time to implement it into our lives, it truly makes a difference! Meditation is brilliant for a number of reasons but for me the it gives me that much needed "me time"! It only has to be 5-10 minutes. I tend to do this either first thing in the morning before my son gets up or middle of the day when he goes down for a sleep.
I find that first thing in the morning my brain is in 'go mode', so I may need to download, write a blog, set up for the day etc instead of meditate as I can find it difficult to truly relax. However middle of the day, I have usually achieved a little already so I find it easier to take that time for me to relax and get connected.
I am using the App Calm. It is wonderful guided meditation and right at your finger tips. No searching, downloading, making it easier to take that time for you.
Habit 2:
Gratitude! On Sunday one of the things I learnt was to practise gratitude before going to bed every night. Now gratitude is something I already knew about and practised occasionally. However on Sunday we were shown to do it a little differently.
Have a rock or crystal next to your bed. In the evening before you go to sleep pick up the rock, hold it in your hands, close your eyes and replay your day in your mind. Then pick just one moment to be grateful for and lock that memory into your rock or crystal.
What I have found practising this and replaying my day in my mind is there are SOOOOOOO many more than things to be grateful for each day. Picking just one can be so difficult. This habit allows you to reminisce and see all the things you have achieved. It has been a real eye opener for me.
Habit 3:
Being conscious of my body! This week I have found since practising the above I have been more aware of how my body is feeling and what I need to fuel it.
Most people from the outside think I is super healthy and fit because I am skinny BUT I can tell you that is not true! I am the type of person who grabs a muesli bar on the run or eats my sons left overs. I don't worry too much about what I inhale just as long as I feel full and can keep moving forward.
Before having Digby my son I had a number of stomach issues (IBS) which would cause bloating and irritability. I would be hesitant to eat or worried about everything I did eat. It became more of a mental battle. I ended up on Anti-Anxiety tablets and this subsided majority of my symptoms. However when I was pregnant I had to come off of them, they weren't safe for the baby. Since having Digby my body has naturally balanced out and I no longer suffer from any of this. Is it because I no longer worry? Or is it because the hormones shifted within my body? Either way I am a much happier person!!
So with this said I haven't been concerned with what I've been eating just celebrating that I am operating like a normal person! But there is an issue with this as well as it's not sustainable. Our bodies need to be fuelled with the right ingredients.
This week I have felt more into my body and given my body what it has been craving. Mostly more salad and more fruit. I feel amazing for it! Lighter, brighter and I definitely have more energy.
Habit 4:
Letting go of control! Not at all an easy thing to do BUT you will notice the difference when you do.
I am extremely goals driven. I set massive goals and work my butt off to achieve them. Usually however I set my sights so big that I fall short and then feel down on myself because I haven't achieved them. I often think that if I create a plan I can control the outcome. Problem is most of the time the outcome is out of our control anyway.
Surrendering the outcome and knowing that as long as you are showing up, doing your daily actions the outcome will happen, the way it's meant to happen. Again the universe has our back. Most of the time we try sooooo hard to control the outcome that we forget to enjoy the journey and the experience, which is where the magic really happens.
When completing our goals we need to look at all the things we do achieve on the way. We are constantly moving forward however we loose sight of this because we are so focussed on the end result. Now I am letting go, offering the outcome up to the universe and this week I can already see the difference. Money, clients, people are flowing into my life that were not part of my "plan" but are so needed and I feel grateful for.
Be open to receiving, let go of the outcome and see what the universe has in store for you!
In summary I felt I NEEDED to share this weeks experience with you all. This awakening I am sure will relate to so many of you out there. Whether you just need to be woken up again and re-aligned with yourself or weather you need to try something new and get out of your comfort zone, I hope this triggers something within you.
